Also, just because a private collector owns a print doesn't mean that they can do whatever they want with it. If they show the film publicly they are supposed to secure a license (they usually cost $200 and up - or half of the admission receipts - per a showing) from the copyright owner.
Also, notice that Ebay doesn't allow 35mm features to be sold. There was a problem with new feature prints being stolen from theaters and sold on Ebay - leading Ebay to believe that no 35mm print could legitimately belong to a private collector.
